Meadow Rue Anemone:
a Tall (3-4 ft) relative of the diminutive Rue Anemone that blooms in early spring. The leaf structure is nearly identical
although the flowers are quite different. Blooms in June. Location: Gunpowder loop Trail, MD.
Indian Pipe: Saprophytic plant w/o any chlorophyll. Gets it's nutrients from decaying organic material through a symbiotic
relationship with a fungus that grows on its roots. Blooms June-Sept. Location: Gunpowder Loop Trail, Hemlock Gorge Hike,
MD.

White Burgamot or Basal Balm (Monarda clinopodia): Found
in the same areas as M. didyma. Location: Williams River, Tea Creek Backcountry, MNF, WV.
Climbing Fumitory, Mountain Fringe, Allegheny Vine (Adlumia
fungosa): Vines can grow up to 12 feet in length. Likes to grow od rock faces. Location" Long Pond Trail. Photo

White Turtlehead (Chelone glabra): White but often tinged
in violet. Fall bloomer. Location: Little North Mt, GWNF, VA.

Virgin's Bower: Clematis virginiana: A vine that blooms fron July
to September. The silky strands shown here are actually extensions of the seed pods. Clusters of small white flowers give
way to these in the fall. Grows on woods edges and along waterway banks. This specimen was found along an old road/trail in
Great Falls National Park, VA.
