About this archive

midatlantichikes.com was M.R. Hyker's hiking site for Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia — 318 hikes and some 3,657 trail miles, last updated in 2016. The domain lapsed, was re-registered by someone else, and now redirects to an unrelated site. This is a private copy rebuilt from the Internet Archive, for personal trip planning.

The original pages are preserved exactly as they were, and every photo, map and PDF here links into them. What is new is the structure: trail notes, coordinates and stats were extracted from the archived files so the hikes can be searched, filtered and put on a real map instead of the hand-drawn image-maps the original used.

Extraction is imperfect and the site says so. A figure marked ? means the sources disagree or the value was inferred loosely. Where a page appears to link the wrong trail-notes PDF, the hike page says that outright rather than showing you another trail's directions.
